ABOUT

Hello.  I’m Naomi.

I am a writer, an artist, a mother, and a social worker.

For the past two years I have been pursuing my Masters of Social Work with a specialisation in International and Community Development. My entry into social work was the beginning of a new chapter for me.

My first degree in fine arts led me to a career in film and television. After five years of working in the Alberta film and television industry I moved to Cambodia and began a career in journalism. I worked for three years there as the Managing Editor of AsiaLIFE Magazine and for one year as the Chief Copy Editor of the Phnom Penh Post.

Witnessing and reporting on the human rights abuses that take place regularly in Cambodia had a profound effect on my life’s journey. It led me to make a career shift from that of largely an observer and documenter, to one of active engagement in social development.

A masters degree in International Social Work was a perfect fit for me.
